so i posted this not so much as a rant, but as an answer to the yearly debate about whether or not it's a good time to use the USPS to ship and receive goods.

my opinion is that they may be a little bit overwhelmed. good luck brothers and sisters, i hope all your chit makes it wherever it should be prior to a week from next Wednesday. and prayers for my en route ukulele, please.

after that they can just go back being only moderately unreliable. oh wow, it's Friday the 13th, too. image

  • Yes it is. Here's my current purchase from ebay:

I also had another item state it was delivered in Greensboro at 12:37am on Tuesday. I don't live in Greensboro.image Then I get the package later that day. Status was never updated to show it was delivered to the correct city. Surely this won't cause issues with not receiving/sending items on Ebay right?

I'm dealing with it too which is frustrating since I've been waiting for a package to arrive for a little over two weeks so I can mail out my secret santa. Grrrrr.

I think Sherman Oaks is just adopting the Hollywood method of operation that they've had in place for years. Not only do I not get packages delivered to me, I don't even get the pink slips that say there's a package waiting for me.

Of course, it's not just me, they do that to everyone. So going to the PO to pick up a package is a real delight when there's 20 other people at any given time doing the same. Good luck.

I have been waiting on a nice 1970 Topps cello pack that Fritsch sent via USPS last Friday. I know it's only a week but it seems excessive to me to take that long. I am ready to rip that pack! Come on USPS!

It is a mess. It took a week for a check I sent to get half way across the country. It was a sizable check so I was chewing nails hoping it would show up. My friend's a carrier and complained they've been buried in packages. He's been working tons of overtime to try to keep up. I guess that could be a sign the economy is doing well (hopefully).

i'd love to believe you. i really would. but my gut instinct tells me things are getting screwed around while they try to keep up with Letters To Santa! image
  • the worse time of year for USPS , I hate sending packages this time of year , usually two or three people a day email me crying about their package.

For your sake, I hope you're right. My PO has been effed for over a year-and-a-half. Perhaps they're just in the holiday spirit 365.

  • Having the same issues to a shipment to MI. Shows attempted delivery yesterday then shows back to sorting again in another near by city. USPS WTF ???
  • I would really hope that means the economynis doing better. I think a lot of it is more and more people are doing online shopping vs going to brick and mortar, traffic, rude people, weather and a general mess out there. Also, stores are starting to offer same day delivery. I see it as e- commerce continues to increase.

And I'm not even mentioning the amazon DRONE delivery to come. Can't wait for that. image
  • I was supposed to get a package today and didn't get it. The tracking said it was out for delivery and when I got my mail the package was not there. I waited 5 hrs later and went up to the PO to see if the package was there. The clerk told me there were probably 100 parcels up there but they refused to go look for it. So I guess I will see if I get it tomorrow lol.

just landed. 1 for 3 today. pending tomorrow's deliveries, i'll be back with an eagerly anticipated update. image
  • Finally got a purchase package today after 2 weeks from FL to WI. Was logged in USPS tracking on November 29th as dispatched to sort facility, no updates at all until today when it was out for delivery.

  • I'm with you. I don't know why I bother selling on ebay this time of year. I shipped an item on Tuesday that still doesn't show as received by USPS. It makes me so nervous.
  • USPS is slow right now, not all their fault with some weather problems, not counting the current storm in progress. Had some cards coming from New Jersey to Chicago via a stop over in Denver. Taking a slight detour was not fun to watch, but at least I could see the "progress" in transit.

My parents' local main post office was caught by a newspaper a couple years ago sending large quantities of bulk mail (ads) to the dumpster while still in bundles, and postal carriers told the paper that supervisors told them they didn't need to deliver it. The spokeshole for the USPS had the audacity to claim that the bundles in photos were actually undeliverable mail that carriers had rebundled.
If you figure it's all junk, consider what not getting any more supermarket ads would do to your grocery shopping.
