Which pro athletes would be SOL if their sport did not exist?

MGLICKERMGLICKER Posts: 7,995 ✭✭✭
Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders were multi sport athletes. What sport stars would be stockbrokers or maybe janitors if their game had not been created.

My first choice is .....

Wayne Gretzky.

I've been next to Corey Pavin and he is a wee little man.

I think he's fortunate that golf was invented and that he excels at it.

This. But coming from the OP and his views it's not surprising.

So considering which athletes are just one sport wonders and which have multiple talents do not merit a thread amongst this Mensa Group.

I'll wait and just post another Joe Blow just signed for $58 Million for 4 year thread that seems to be a better choice for the less creative.

There is absolutely no way Bradshaw could have done well in any sport other than football at even the high school level

    Or maybe he could have

I guess I'm a little confused here. Did you mention these two based on their inability to excel professionally at another sport, or was it done with any other chosen career field in mind?

If it's the former, I agree. If it's the latter, I couldn't disagree more.

Maybe Manute Bol could have been a goal line/red zone receiver...especially in today's NFL where you can't even breath on a receiver. Then he can come in to block field goal attempts too.

I was going to say Mark Eaton, but I could see him in the same receiving role as Bol.

I don't have an answer, other than any/all of the guys who are thugs/morons...as they would most likely be in jail.

Speaking of centers, Hakeem excelled in soccer and his footwork was a foundation for the Dream Shake. Didn't even know what a basketball was until he was 17 or 18.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I think it is really silly to think we know how smart or stupid these players would be and how well they would do in the real world.

That is not the discussion. Thread is about whether they could excel or even compete in other pro sports.
