1935 George Burke Photo Stamps - Detroit Tigers

Complete set of 24 stamps on 2 perforated sheets. Also included/shown is the original cello wrapper and rice(?) paper divider from between the photo sheets. The seller said it was found in an old book of her grandma's who was an avid Tigers fan.

A psa 1.5 Greenberg sold for over $100 a few years back.

Wow, guess I did ok... I would think the full sheets along with the original wrappers would add a premium as well.

Has anyone seen the full sheets bought/sold before?

keep it complete, thats the draw, and thats what makes it rare. dont ruin it by chopping it up

keep it in its rarest form! get it slabbed by SGC, they will slab the entire sheet

Ive owned hundreds of the single stamps of both the Detroit type and the MLB (player fan mail based) type.... but have only seen a complete sheet of the Detroit type, maybe 5 times ever, in 30 years of collecting PreWar

Thanks for the info on these FKW...I'll definitely be keeping them intact. Yours looks great slabbed and I'm sure I'll send mine in at some point as well. Given your experience with these, what would you value your SGC sheets at?

image of sheet is not mine its on internet... Id value sheets about 1.5X the value of the total of the individual stamps... but are many many times rarer overall

many PreWar collectors are not interested in these small stamps, they are hard to sell for 'book value' IMO
someone noted a Greenberg selling for $100 in low condition, thats actually a crazy price! I was lucky to get $8-$15 ea on any common stamps (NRMT), and have never sold a HOFer from any type for anywhere near $100+ (even the Honus Wagner) .... even the much rarer (uncataloged) larger MLB type didnt bring much demand or extra $$ (the MLB type are found in 2 sizes, larger ones are not mentioned in the SCD catalog at all)

but Im sure Detroit Tigers collector would want these sheets...

PS the image SGC graded sheet above looks to be taken with a digital camera at an angle, thus the thing looks crooked..

these (below) are the MLB type in case any one was interested in the differences...
