Habsburg Minors

Been picking up higher grade minors related to my theme set. They may be undervalued in my opinion in higher grades.

Money burning a hole in your pocket, Zohar? image

Btw, I agree with you that minors can be nice choices. They are the workhorse of that economy. Just don't chase the tiny ones, because if they're too hard to view then that diminishes desire.

Very nice Z, I also agree these can be very good values.

Don't they say that size does not matter? image

    Lol!

Keep it clean folks. This is a family program. image

Seriously, though, I collect sceattas and pennies. Small. Too small, sometimes. For a long time, US half dimes languished and were undervalued. Only about 10 to 12 years ago that their rarity started to be noticed relative to their much larger cousins.

How small are the GB coins you mention?

A sceat is typically between 12 and 13 mm. A penny is between 19 and 21 mm usually.

Thanks for sharing with us Zohar, they are very nice.

Are you thinking of just picking up a few premium pieces in order to supplement your primary collection and perhaps capitalize on the minors being under valued? Or are you considering fully branching out your collection to include these minors as completely as you have done with your Talers?

The 1665 Vienna is particularly nice. Amazing to see a piece that old in BU. Really gorgeous. Happy holidays! image presents for yourself?

Pah! Sceats are huge, where are you gonna store them all? Should collect Celtic minims if you want something nice and portable. I have a Verica that just tops 8 mm.

I like my sceats and stycas, but I wonder what I'll do when my eyesight goes. Maybe move on to hammered sovereigns or ryals

The former. Just to have a few representing minors which circulated during that time. The focus is to remain on Talers. Quite a challenge for me to image as they are small.

Same to you! No real present just a pickup.

My eyesight has already started to go. image I use a low mag, large-size loupe to view the sceattas and stycas. I'm still ok with the denier-sized pieces. But, I'm contemplating the Stuart pound and half-pound coins (but only if I got a dramatic increase in salary!!!).

This is why I stick to larger types; I'm planning ahead for when eyes fail me.

Nap, if you think 8mm is small, I know a guy on the boardwalk who sells these grains of rice with entire city scapes etched into them imageimage

Very nice, Paul. Those Graz pieces are very nice.

Zohar and PBRat - stunning pieces. I believe the rarity of these minors exceeds the talers from a practical circulation perspective.
