89 fleer baseball error cards

I'm kind of on a little junk wax run. Im planning on buying at least one box (maybe 2-3) of 89 fleer baseball at a local card show tomorrow. i I was wondering if anyone knows (or will disclose) how to tell which boxes have the Billy Ripken and Randy Johnson error cards in them? Or maybe I'd have to know what cases they came out of first?

Any help would be appreciated!

Not really sure, but a quick look on ebay says the rack boxes are 41199-00590. Back in the day, I bought two boxes from a drug store and one box had a black box version and the other had a scribble version. I thought it was kind of odd since I was pretty sure the boxes came from the same case (didn't know for sure).

    Thanks for the info!
  • Serial number on the side is irrelevant. No way to tell until you open them.

Did Fleer handle it the same as Topps? Meaning, did all 1989 Fleer wax have the same product code/serial number?

I will tell you there is NO way of knowing what version you have by looking at the boxes.
The only way to tell is by the number on the outside of the Factory Case.

I have corrected version and error version on my site...

That is correct, despite what was mentioned above.

I have opened numerous cases and detailed everything about the ones that had early errors and later variations including everything form the Fleer factory tape do the sequence flips in all variations. Serial number on case, as I mentioned earlier, was irrelevant.
