Crème de la crème

As if we didn't already know. I don't have kids of my own, but the following still resonated in a big way. From BBCE's FB page:

It's no secret that card collecting in the 21st century isn't marketed towards kids; that's just the way the hobby has evolved over the years. If you share your enjoyment of collecting cards with your sons and daughters, nieces or nephews, or grandchildren, BBCE wants to help make their Christmas just a little more special.

We encourage all kids (under 18, please) to hand-write us a letter sharing their collecting experiences. The hand-written letter must include:

Name
Mailing address
Favorite sport(s), team(s), and/or player(s)
Why you enjoy collecting with your relative/family friend

For every letter we receive, we will mail back a free gift for the kids - they will make perfect stocking stuffers! Please, limit 1 letter per kid. We don't want to encourage poor etiquette in today's youth.

Tell all your friends who have kids that collect cards too, but make sure they visit our Facebook page to "like" us first! The deadline for receiving all letters is Saturday, December 14th, so make sure your kids get started on their letter immediately. This will give us enough time to pack and mail gifts to every kid, ensuring it will arrive before Christmas.

Please mail letters to:

Baseball Card Exchange
2412 US Highway 41
Schererville, IN 46375

Note: If your child sends us a letter, you acknowledge we reserve the right to publish it, minus the personal information, of course.

We're looking forward to receiving a bunch of mail next week. Thanks, and Happy Holidays from the staff at BBCE!

So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I don't have kids either, but I notice that every show that I go to, there are merely a handful of kids who even have interest in the hobby. A+ gesture to not only the kids but the future of the hobby. Great move Steve, Reed and the rest of BBCE.

Thanks for sharing. Kudos to Steve and DA BOYZ for this. Since my daughters are NOT into card collecting, just made a phone call and my nephew (turning 9 this week) is going to be writing a letter. I think he will be waiting at the door for the mailman each and every day after he mails his letter!
    STAY HEALTHY!

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

my stepson is 12 and enjoys opening old wax packs with me...its a great way for us to relate to one another, as we dont share many common interests....he seems to be more interested in basketball(particularly anything jordan), but still shows interest in the older baseball card packs as well...i like to let him bust the 1989 hoops basketball and 1987 topps baseball packs...they are both loaded with exciting star cards and are easy on the wallet image i think what steve is doing for the kids is an awesome idea and a good way to spark interest in this great hobby that has been seemingly forgotten by 95% of todays youth....bbce will definately be getting a letter from my boy!(i will also encourage him to tell his friends) kudos to steve and bbce for this wonderful selfless act!

Great gesture by Steve, Rick, Reed, and the rest of the guys at BBCE. Looks like my boys will be busy writing letters this weekend.

This is awesome. Thanks for sharing. My six year-old just started taking interest in cards, probably from watching me fill my set needs in various binders. He insisted we go down to the card shop to look for Giants cards. It was super cool for me, and super cool for the shop owner - I started going to his shop when I was 7 or 8, so it was like deja vu for him.

Very nice of Steve and the company. I like win / win situation - kids get involved in a great hobby, BBCE grows its customer base. Isn't this the way it's supposed to be? image

  • Saw this on FB earlier. I'm home tomorrow with my boys so we'll be writing some letters. This is such an awesome gesture on their part.

Awesome idea, and a great way to try and get kids involved in collecting. Sadly, my kids are far too young to participate and I don't know anyone I can tell about this.
