I've been completely immersed in pigskin, but I had a brief moment this morning and decided to check out the hierarchy. Let's just play nice and say that the Eastern Conference is a sight to behold.

Someone wake me up when the playoffs commence

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

I don't think it is a stretch to say the Eastern Conference is the worst conference of all-time in any of the 4 major sports. There's a very real possibility that 3 or 4 playoff teams will be under .500 when the playoffs start.

Zach Lowe (great NBA writer for Grantland) did a story about how they need to abolish divisions immediately, as the Raptors, with their sub .500 record, would be the 4 seed if the playoffs started today.

Good idea. I would also take a layer out of the playoffs and reduce the number of participants to 8. Not just NBA but NHL and NFL as well. MLB should only have 4 playoff teams. 162 game season certainly establishes the best 4 teams.

They will never reduce the number of teams in the playoffs, there is too much money involved in playoff games, which are the only ones a lot of fans watch.

This next 9 game stretch will be very interesting to see how good Indiana really is. They play the top 4 teams of the Western Conference on the road, and Miami twice. If they get through that stretch at 6-3 or better, with how bad the East is, they could definitely be a 65-win team, and set themselves up for a shot at 70 (if they wanted to go for it, which might not necessarily be the wisest choice).
