Starting a PSA ticket collection........

Been a while since I last posted here, good to see so many new and old familiar names.

Lately I have become interested in tickets (mainly football) from years past. I am trying to acquire tickets from historical NFL games such as the Immaculate Reception, Sea of Hands, The Catch, etc. etc. and classic College football games.

It is my understanding you do not have to be a PSA member to submit tickets, however, it will cost $25 per ticket if you aren't. Is it worth joining the PSA Collectors Club to submit tickets, are the specials worth the fee ?

I look forward in to hearing other ticket collectors thoughts and seeing your collections, I plan on posting a few soon.

Thanks !

  • Oh, I almost forgot to ask about vintage concert tickets. I have a few full stubs from the 60's and 70's does PSA authenticate these ?

I don't think you can use your membership freebies on tickets, and the current special is $18/ticket, so you'll need about 14 tickets to break even over the course of a year.

They run a ticket a few times a year. It's definitely worth it for tickets pre 1980 which I think are usually 35. Psa will pretty authenticate any ticket except mlb tickets from ticketmaster. I'm not sure why they won't grade ticket master tickets. I really like getting tickets slabbed. I have a few at psa now.

I think the specials will make worth joining. I have been slabbing some tickets lately and even at $18 the savings can add up quickly. You can always piggyback too, but I have several tickets I would not trust not sending in on my own.
