Philippines 1/2 centavo question

Well it was kinda slow at the coinshow today so I wandered around picking at junk boxes ( to see if my junk box crap was comparible ) when I see this neat little coin in the corner of a dollar a coin box I figured it was worth a buck for the coolness factor but when I went to look it up in Krause it shows proof only for 1905 ... with a mintage of 471 is this a proof ??

Congratulations-it sure seems like it is a proof. There were no circulation issues for the date. However Krause does say that the proof coins have mirror-like fields and frosted features. At $300 in proof with only a dollar invested I would send it off to be certified. My best guess is, it is a proof. Very nice find. Way to cherry pick them.

Year 1905, 1906 and 1908 of 1/2 centavo series are proof issue only, so that is definitely a proof. Congrats!

Wow, very cool. I've always found certain older proofs to be much harder to identify. Especially if it's a "matte proof" striking with not much of a mirror field. Judging by the photos, if I had this in-hand and was hurriedly fishing through a junk box, I probably wouldn't have picked up on the proof aspect. It's a really cool design though so I'd like to think I would've bought it anyway.
