Chicago Sun Times Show

Anyone going?

Autograph pavilion is stacked. I might hit this tomorrow and try to get Sandberg, Bench, Reggie and Grace. Any chance I get through those lines before they're done?

I'd love to go, but my old home Chicago is too far away from TX to go often. I'd like to go back when Nationals rotate there again in a couple of years. Link below:

  • I'm getting Larry Csonka on his 1969 rookie at the show , would have done the 73 Topps as well, but $109 is a tad high .
  • Csonka charges $109? I teach high school in Stow, Ohio, Csonka is from here. Monday he is coming back to speak to the students and being honored for the NFL hometown Hero's program. We are having an assembly for him to speak to the kids. I'm bringing some cards to give to my kids to have signed, maybe I should rethink that !
  • I went to the show Friday, and man it was dead. There was no line at PSA and the isles were just scattered with people. High grade cards were far and few between (except for Craig's and Jeff's adjacent tables). Just seemed like a ton of over priced raw vintage cards that maybe could grade a 5or6 on a good day with asking prices of graded 7's. I did have a great time chatting with Jeff Foy and his dad and also Craig and our frustrations of the hobby today and also the unbelievable price increases of high grade star RC's from the 70's.

  • Good luck getting Csonka . He wants a $100 donation for autographs through the mail . These big autograph shows are dead, the prices are way too high. I'm getting Csonka done because he rarely does shows , the rest of them can be had much cheaper elsewhere.

Thanks Scott. It was great catching up and chatting with you. Congrats again on your 75's. I'll keep an eye out for that Cesar Geronimo. Lol
Thanks to all the other guys who stopped by the table also. Fun show as always!

  • The event at the High School went well. Larry gave a great speech and signed a few autographs for the students, no charge !
  • It was an amazing day to meet Ryne Sandberg. Class act guy, awesome experience. This piece is going to the framers tomorrow afternoon, then to the basement.
