What do you think of my latest Seated Dime cherrypick?

Because it is such a rich date for varieties, over the last three years or so, I have looked at almost every eBay auction for 1876-CC dimes. I've found several examples of the DDO paired with all three known reverses, along with multiples of the big DDR and the misplaced date (digits in gown). However, it wasn't until last night that I was able to snag one of these (seller's pictures, obviously):

This reverse die break is listed as F.115b on the wonderful Seated Dime variety site, where it is called "rare". I cannot recall having seen another in all the time I've been watching these coins, though I have seen other reverse retained cuds. My hope is that the glue residue will come off the obverse of this coin with a little acetone and I'll end up with a nice VF details example.

I know there area few other seated Dime guys here, does anyone have any insight into this variety, or have similar die breaks to share?

Not an attractive looking coin, but I can definitely appreciate a rare late die state image
  • Man those 1870s CC dimes come ugly. Don't think I have seen an attractive one in hand ever.

Cherry Pickers lists a Type 1 and a Type 2 reverse, yours appears to be the Type 2 witch they claim is more rare than the Type 1..... congrats

Any CC Coins are cool even without the variety.

I generally look at all 1876-cc dimes for a decent example of the type II reverse (yours is a type I) and I missed it, I was too busy sniping the counterfeit 1860 quarter
