Very cool error on ebay-Cent struck on dime

rec78rec78 Posts: 5,861 ✭✭✭✭✭
Hi, I do not know how rare this is, but thought it was very cool. I have not seen this type of error in a long time. A cent struck over an already minted dime. I imagine that if the date of the dime was visable it would even be more desirable. I do not know the value of such a coin but it is really neat. I have seen cents struck on dime planchets but not a cent struck on an already minted coin. Is this rarer than a cent just struck on a blank dime planchet? I believe it is. Comments?

Yes it is rarer than a cent on a dime planchet.

The eleven cent piece is a very cool and sought after major mint error. Two dates have more of a premium.

I have an example in my error typeset. These are regularly available at the price listed and above. Certain dates will be rarer than others.

The seller white balance must be off as it looks more like aluminum then a clad dime planchet?

    Decent price too.
    (Better if both dates showed.)

I've seen these get $1,200. slabbed.
