Becket Media going to publish us coins price guide

Beckett publications known for their sports card pricing is going to issue a coins price guide along with some form of buy sell etc on webiste.
This should be interesting to see what kind of prices they come up with since this area is totally new to them.Gives Coin World a competitor for the retail price guide which is always good.

Should be interesting said it will be out by the end of year.

All it says on website is "coming soon"

Well Beckett is a mouthpiece for the card industry and sells various sports items so no objectivity.Guess they saw all the $$$ spent on coins as compared to sports cards.

Not sure they would be successful with coin prices online as you can get them free from numismedia and probably other places as well. They charge $9 a month for each sport. But they have an exclusive database of all the cards and not found elsewhere unlike coins

With all the types, dates, mints, varieties, grades, designations, etc. I think it is a massive undertaking. It will be a miracle if it is not a monthly service.

There are free online price guides at both PCGS and NGC's websites, plus the grey sheet, the red book, coinfacts, tons of data on various auction companies' websites, and magazines like Coins, Coin Prices, Coin World, and Numismatic News.

Not only is Beckett late to the game, I'm not sure that we really need yet another source of data. And as FadeToBlack rightly points out, accuracy has never been Beckett's strong point in the sportscard market.

I wish them luck, but I don't personally think I see a need for their offering.

Because if there's anything this hobby needs, it's another price guide.
