Ever not get paid by someone with great feedback?

Not sure what to do here. Buyer with 1260+ 100% positive feedback, including recent feedback for purchasing high dollar items, won't respond to any communication I send through Ebay.
He won a high dollar ($400+) card. I ask for payment within 24 hours, it's been 6 days. I have no problem at all waiting that long, and messaged him to let him know that. I just asked if he still was planning on paying and when that might be. He just doesn't respond.
How long do you typically wait to open non-paying bidder case? I really hate doing that, especially to users with such good feedback. I have exactly 0% success rate on anyone paying that I've opened a case against, FYI.

<< <i>I do want to add, I just had a guy end up waiting almost 13 days to pay, but he initiated communication and continued to email throughout the wait, so I was understanding of his issues and it did work out just fine. Waiting a bunch of days to pay doesn't bother me as long as the buyer has the decency to drop a quick note about it. No communication is what shows they really deserve the unpaid item strike. >>
That's exactly it. I've waited 20 days before...just let me know. Guess he just has buyer's remorse and just hopes I'll go away. I will, of course, as Ebay gives sellers no recourse...
Funny thing is, I've been having a little sellers remorse even though I got a great price on the card...if he doesn't pay it's going back in the ol' collection.

I agree 100%. I have my seller settings set to open a non-paying bidder case after 8 days. HOWEVER, I do understand that sometimes life gets in the way ... someone may get suddenly ill ... maybe they are on vacation. If I get paid within a few days after opening up the NPB I will usually leave positive feedback. Unlike the OP, I have gotten paid almost every time I opened up a case.
GOOD LUCK!
Doug
Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
I just figured that maybe that is the way they do things.

Why ask for payment in 24 hours? Ebay gives (or at least used to) 7 days to pay for an item.
I usually pay immediately, occasionally have to transfer cash between accounts, that takes a couple of days. I don't like it when sellers are pushy about being paid, if you want your money in 24 hours, you should ship item the next day and ship it overnight, at no extra charge!
He certainly should have replied to your inquiries, go ahead and file the NPB and he will probably pay up.
I also sell on ebay and don't worry about getting paid until 7 days go by without payment or a message from buyer.
Give him a little more time. Sometimes things come up as other posters have said.
If he has a lot of good feedback I'd trust past behavior a little longer.

Weird stuff.
