PSA Graded card storage boxes.

Does anyone know why PSA doesn't produce a larger storage box to house your graded cards? I see they have red or blue plastic ones but they don't seem to hold many maybe 25-40? That's no good. I'm suprised they haven't developed something yet for larger sets. Does anyone recommend a certain brand or have any experience with the BBCE ones? I believe they are advertised to hold 180 which is better than nothing. I'm just looking to start really organizing my collection and to get something that looks halfway decent also. Thanks for any help guys.

    PSA Supplies

    SKU: 10440
Description: Black Cardboard Storage Box: This lightweight box holds 60 regular size, PSA-graded cards. Ideal for carrying large orders.
    Price: $7.00

They are durable and work great -- and actually hold about 70 slabs.

Scott, the black cardboard box holds exactly 65 cards (it could hold 66 but then you would need a crowbar if you wanted to remove a card!)

The reason i know this and am so adamant about that number is because just yesterday I just happened to count how many I could fit into one as I am using one to house my 57 basketball set; i'm currently at 67 cards and 65 are in there fine but the other two dont fit so for now I have them resting comfortably on top of the stack of 65 (laying flat, of course). The set consists of 80 cards; to echo jimmy's sentiment, i too wish they could start making some additonal larger sized ones to hold this set and the 59 fleer ted williams set which also consists of 80 cards --and also ones that hold slightly larger sets such as the 59 fleer three stooges set which consists of 96 cards. Its a drag to have to start a second box to hold just 15 more cards and I dont like mixing paper err cardboard with plastic ie I like to keep my boxes for a given set uniform!!

The plastic boxes hold 25 cards and are a pain in the arse to open; I have several of those and dread whenever I need to open one because if you're not careful you'll wind up with 25 holders flying across the room!!image

Thanks guys that's good to know i'll definitely stay away from the plastic ones. Yeah i am hoping that they could develop one that could house say 300-400 cards..for larger topps etc sets. For smaller sets like the ted williams, the fleer set that was mentioned and smaller subsets and insert sets, the black ones that house 65 cards would be fine. As mike mentioned, i wouldn't want to mix up my sets either and have say 2 different partial sets in one box. Lets say a topps set consists of 726 cards in a particular year, they could develop a larger box with multiple rows that could hold say 365..that way you could fit the set "comfortably" in 2 boxes and then label them accordingly. And have a little extra room left over for variations etc. i see that BBCE has done this but their box is advertised at 180 which is still a tad too small. I'm hoping either PSA or soneone else comes along makes a bigger box. I think my sets would be more accessible and easier to organize if they were stored this way

  • Keep in mind the size a box would have to be to hold 300-400 cards plus the weight of box with cards in it. I would think it would be prohibitively large and heavy to serve much good unless you were just going to place it in one spot and retrieve cards from it.
