Storing Single Unopened wax packs

Since I am not a fan of graded packs - as I tend to end up opening mine - is this a safe way to store them? I basically have them upright, in a team bag, with a top loader as backing (the same way BBCE ships them).

    I'd be careful Jeff...

much like Obamacare - those packs may collapse under their own weight. image

On a serious side? I have no experience.

Suggestion. How about considering picking up an empty 79T box on ebay?

edit: forgot to say - those packs look pristine! Very nice Jeff.

    Thanks guys!

Mike - I just had a lovely chat with our insurance provider yesterday about our massive premium increase. Good times!

I honestly feel like the packs are safer wrapped like this than in a wax box - but I wasn't sure if they are okay to be stored upright like that.

I've been thinking the same question, and as of now am storing same as you. Except I cut a strip of bubble wrap to lay along the bottom, in case box gets mishandled. Might upgrade to thin foam if the wife drags me to Michaels again. Though to be honest I have enough display and storage projects in mind that a trip there may not be as painful as I'd have her believe.

Thanks for the question and I'll be watching for any added suggestions.

Interesting question. I've got my tougher raw packs stored basically the same way except in one of those wooden boxes intended for graded cards. Curious to see what others say.

Smith OPC RC is even tougher than Topps to find centered!

I used to own a PSA 9 Ozzie OPC rookie, but I sold it off with my old graded set. I sure wish I'd hung on to that one.

Just watched the '66 OPC "That's what she said" rip, and I totally have this bookmarked now. Btw, what was the verdict, Jeff? Those were indeed some sharp looking cards!

I definitely plan on checking out all other vids soon!

Thanks for watching the videos - I'm glad you got a kick of the '66 OPC vid.

I'm still waiting on a verdict on the pack storage question, though.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. What I meant was, did you have any of those beauties graded?

I think I may have posted them in the PackGeek thread, but I'll have to go back and check. If not - I'll track down the results for you, but to answer the question - yes, I definitely had a few graded.

I just went to the pack geek blog. Love the page, could do without all the sound effects in the videos though.

Are you kidding? The sound effects are part of why the videos are so entertaining!

For what it's worth, I have Topps and Topps Traded/Update packs from this year down to 1975. The 1975 is in a GAI holder. The rest are in team bags, except I don't even have a top loader backing them. They are all in a 2 row box lie the picture shows.

Yeah, I know the drops bother some people, but to be honest - that's the only enjoyable part of the process for me. I'd much rather just be opening packs on my own, and not having to set up a camera and narrate the whole thing. I appreciate the feedback, though.
