Very nice, I always like the more elaborate portraits on the Canadian pieces.

58 seems to be the minimum- and perhaps the maximum

Looks like a definite 58 to 62 range coin.

    Very nice!!

    ok, all fine and good..
BUT no way this coin is higher than AU58.. remember what MS stands for....
and, this coin is circulated.. even has dirt to show for....
Bug, you have not told us what you paid for it...
these are available to purchase and it is unlikely that buyers would miss this variety and bid it up accordingly.
of course, if you just wanted to have one, NO problem. But if you think you got a good deal, that depends on what u paid for it...AND what it will grade out.

Eddy's portrait is a hard one to grade. I'm seeing AU55ish.

    Pokermann,
I agree 100% for the difficulty in grading
    But, ICCS max a 50.

To me the coin looks like it was dipped and not rinsed properly. I still see the coin as Unc. but these are difficult enough to grade in person no less from an image. Perhaps AU58.

I agree with Don all the way. most of the 1902 + 1903 5 and 10 cent are not easy to grade as the strike seems to be very shallow. a TPG has to take this into consideration.
unfortunately my 1903s are not here at the moment ( all graded and slabbed). BUT the 1902 is basically the same coin except the date.
this coin was graded by ICCS some time ago as a AU50. IMO and I was happy with that. There is not a lot of difference. between the 2.
However, US A TPGs might have a different opinion.
in any case, your coin is a keeper... definitely.

Glad you are happy. The photo of the 1902 definitely helps a lot, and IMO, it's a much better coin. Perhaps it's just a much better image, but I would've passed on this 1903. The detail may be there in most areas, but I think it lacks around the lips, and the smaller beads under his lapel. The rims don't look nearly as strong IMO as the 1902. And there's a lot of dirt besides just the black around the "cents" "canada" and "1903" … sorry not trying to be rude it's only my 2¢
