The MS66+ coin is the Col. Green-Lelan Rogers-Stellar Collection specimen, well worth the "+" and (in my opinion) superior to the other MS66 specimen (the St. Oswald-Ostheimer piece). This is also the coin that Eric Newman passed up when picking coins from the Col. Green Estate inventory, in favor of the fabulous AU he chose.

I'm grateful that I made an arbitrary decision long ago to save my copy of Stack's/Akers/Rarcoa "Numisma '95" sale. The coin is color plated full page as Lot 1315. Wishing I had been a bit older and wiser to have had the potential opportunity to meet Lelan Rogers, who ran a dairy farm in my neck of Upstate New York. He and JJP used to run in the same circles. From the Stack's "Numisma '95 catalog:
It's on CoinFacts. Would be surprised if you didn't have a subscription. If not, it's a grayish blue-purple coin with nary a visible mark. There are a few planchet striations and some very short adjustment marks (3-5 o'clock near the obverse rim). The only real distraction to overall fabulous eye appeal is some striking weakness along the left rim on either side of the coin.

IIRC the St. Oswald coin also has the more recent Jimmy Hayes pedigree. .

There's just something soooo sexy about a high grade 1794 dollar. The current condition census is full of great collections:
Stellar (also includes The Coin) Pogue (also includes the Childs 1804) Legend (I've had a few great coins along the way) Private CA collection (also includes Eliasberg 1913) Private Wall St collection (also includes Stack 1796 qtr)
Cardinal: <<The MS66+ coin is the Col. Green-Lelan Rogers-Stellar Collection specimen, well worth the "+" and (in my opinion) superior to the other MS66 specimen, the St. Oswald-Ostheimer piece>>
Hopefully, the readers of this thread will please consider an extremely pertinent statement that I put forth in an article in January 2013, here reproduced verbatim:
* I have a clear recollection of the Rogers piece, which is wonderful. The Rogers 1794 dollar is, though, a business strike. I refer to the Carter 1794 as the finest known because it truly merits its Specimen-66 certification and it has incredible characteristics. The Rogers piece is probably of higher quality, strictly in terms of numerical grade, by a fraction of a grade increment. In terms of method of manufacture, production quality and overall visual impact, the Carter 1794 is vastly superior to the Rogers 1794 dollar. The Carter 1794 dollar is awe-striking. *
I always loved this Bass coin as well. The strike is incredible. No where in the league of the 1794's being discussed. But it the highest graded one I've ever held in my hands for a long time. 10 mins!
