question for Starting Lineup collectors.... determining condition on unopened figures

When you determine the "condition" of an unopened figure, does the cardboard backing get looked at the same way that a sports card collector would look at a sports card?
Would surface wrinkles or a crease on the cardboard backing of an unopened 1989 SLU figure be considered as severe as surface wrinkles or a crease on a 1989 Upper Deck Griffey RC?

Two most important things on an unopened figure would be the condition of the backing card, and the bubble.
Creasing of any kind on the front is not considered good. The more significant the creasing, the lower the grade becomes.
On the back of the backing card there is usually light creasing around the back where the bubble has been sealed to the card. This is considered heat creases, and general accepted, especially on older pieces.
