Took me a year and a half to complete 36 cards in the condition I wanted. Set is extremely tough on centering so it wasnt my main concern. A big thank you to Frank aka Mantlefan as he sent me the last card I needed the set for free! Incredibly generous and I am so appreciative. I had my what was then set in progress on the nonsports forum but Im sure many here dont visit that area. Just something different and interesting to share. This is my only pre-60s nonsport set I have ever owned. I hope you all enjoy.

Beautiful set. It's one that I thought about doing - if I were to do a nonsport set.
And that's very generous of Frank - he's a good guy. I've known him for some time and after years, we realized that we lived a few blocks from each other growing up and went to the same Church in Queens!
What's next?
Nothing with collecting is next. I have a business venture a friend and I are trying to get off the ground. My money will have to go to that.
That and I am just about to accept a job with the VA Hospital in Albany, NY. That alone has kept me busy with all kinds of paperwork.
That's pretty neat how you and Frank grew up next to each other. Small world! I hope one day Im able to return some sort of favor to him.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

I'll let ya know if he ever needs a kidney?

Most of America's 19th century presidents have a striking resemblance to Dracula.

That is a beautifull set. I am a big follower of US history and many of those cards capture a defining moment
of that president's life. Anything in presidential history is of interest to me.
My father as a baby was asked for (to be) held by Franklin Roosevelt Whe he was in Binghamton NY. How cool was that?
Many of my ancestors going back to the esarly 1700's settled in your area of columbia county.
I have driven by Van Buren's home 100's of times. Very nice area. Get any apple cider donuts from Golden Harvest lately?
Yum Yum.
My ancestor Capt. Peter Groat Jr was a good friend of Van Buren and it has been documented M.V.B. rode his horse from Lindenwald to visit Peter
in chatham (town was then called Groat's Corners) where he had a tavern (and stage coach line) on rt 66 (you can still see today a NYS historical marker ther).
So much history in this area going way back.
There are also a number of other president's card sets out there. ex. 1932 U S Caramel. 56's are the nicest IMO

apparently facial hair was "in" during the latter half of the nineteenth century.
