Yet another misleading eBay auction....witness this ANACS 1829 CBH AU53 Details

Seller makes no mention of this 'polished' 1829 CBH in his description or text body.
There is an image of the slab with said polished details, but to me that is not enough information for the discerning bidder.
Bidders should have a clear written description of the coin.
Description follows:
DESCRIPTION:
1829 Capped Bust Half Dollar ANACS AU 53.
THE COIN YOU SEE IS THE COIN YOU WILL RECEIVE.
**This coin is guaranteed as a U.S. American Coin.
shipped within the Unites States only.
Please pay within 3 days of the auction ending & feel free to check my other listings.
Thank you for your bidding and have a nice day! (:
Coin up for auction: ANACS AU53 CBH Details(Polished)
Of note: Only one bid($475.99)!! Who would pay moon money for an ANACS polished, ungradable AU53 CBH? PCGS AU53 price guide: $500
There is something mighty fishy here.....anyone else agree???

I don't think ebay really understands. And shame on sellers who know better.
Searching would be cleaner if you could exclude "details" or just rely on a grade. That is, if they would undo their new "follow" feature. I can't even figure out how to edit my searches anymore. Grr.
Lance.
<< <i>I've asked ebay more than once to not allow a grade in the title of an auction for a BB'd coin. Or to at least require "details" be included. It's misleading at best.

Lance, I couldn't agree with you more....eBay is being stupidly lax on this issue.
I can see an uninformed and quick on the draw collector falling for this misleading practice.

I agree that the seller is wrong in not listing the coin properly. But the bidder is also a nut case IMHO.
<< <i>The bidder only has 3 feedbacks and has bid on 42 items. My guess is that the bidder is one of those compulsion bidders with no intent to purchase, but then, it could be a lottery winner who wants to get into coins. I see no logical reason for this bid. Does not appear to be a shill. Maybe the bidder will withdraw his bids later? Who knows?

Could that ONE bidder be named Phil the Shill????
If someone is dumb enough to buy that coin as problem free, they deserve it. The word "Polish" takes up 1/2 the screen when you mouse over the image.
<< <i>I see this all the time with details graded coins. >>
I agree fully on this statement. I find myself reading these descriptions, with no intention of buying, only to see if there is mention of the problem, that SHOULD be disclosed. SOOOOO many 'skirt' the issue and never make an attempt to get into it....but with ANACS, it TELLS you it's an AU53, just crying for AU53 money (as close to it as possible). ANACS is the wild card with these slabbed, problem coins. People with too much time and money with little knowledge, well, someone willing the spend AU53 $$ on a problem coin, I don't get it. I just don't get how a person, stepping into this hobby, knowing it CAN/COULD become a costly hobby, just put a bid of $475 on a coin worth less than half of that bid (my guess for price,,,I figure $175-$200 MAX, but with that scrubbing, who knowsm as those cleaning lines just jump out at you.
edited to add...at $475, that'd probably be more than a straight graded PCGS slabbed coin, which s crazy for a blue cert ANACS problem coin. Just crazy.
