Making custom cards

Does anyone have experience in making your own custom cards? I'm wanting to make some custom cards for my Dad this year for Christmas. He played basketball in high school and thought it would be fun to make a "pack" of cards for him based on his playing career. Any idea on how to do this? Thanks!
