writing on cards

I have some 50s cards in nice shape with writing on them. Does this totally degrade the value of the cards? Worth submitting? I've read that PSA grades these as MK, anyone familiar with these?

MK (Marks):
Cards with writing, ink marks, pencil marks, etc. or evidence of the impression left from the act of writing will be designated "MK."

Will drop a grade two full registry points or if you request with out qualifier your PSA 7 will come back a PSA 5

In my opinion, the MK qualifier is probably the worst of the bunch. Especially if the marking is on the front of the card. Not work submitting unless it presents well on the front of the card... unless it's a Mantle or something.

I agree with Jeff. Marks are a major deterrent for me when buying.

I have a 63 clemente that is as sharp as a razor, but it has a stamp of some company logo on the back. For me its a good card, just not great. It depends on how OCD ya wanna be. I definitely agree pen or pencil on the front is a deal breaker.
