Anyone buy from newenglandsportscards on eBay?

I'm typically very hesitant to buy raw cards on eBay, but just bought a raw card from them, the scan looks real nice and was reasonably priced.
Just wondering others' thoughts on this eBay seller. Are their raw grades accurate?

  • I'm guessing this isn't the first time this question has been asked here or on other sites.
  • I thought I heard they were a subsidiary for one of the big ebay sellers and they basically sell all the stuff that doesn't make the cut for sending in to PSA. I think they are also connected to ISA.

I heard that they are part of 4SharpCorners. I am not sure if there is any truth to this.

They are, and that's all I have to say about that.

I always like buying their "nm/mt" for cards I want to get signed. Other than that, their lots, expect to only use half of what they send depending on how picky you are.

I have read a few threads were people have submitted cards purchased from them and hit Gem Mint grades.

They are obviously 4SC raw EBAY ID and just like all of us some that go back in the not getting graded stack turn out great.

4SC is such a larger buyer of raw cards that I am sure plenty of their left overs are good but in general if they say it is NM-MT it probably is or slightly below.

In the interest of managing expectations - assume their "mint" = nrmt, and you should be okay. They tend to slightly over-grade, but at least the over-grading in consistent.

  • dont waste your time buying complete sets from them. I bought 3 sets to help fill in some years there auction said nm/mt 2 of the sets were not even in order so i have no idea how they new they were complete I had to put them in orderalso the 80 topps baseball set had 57 waxwd or gummed cards 84 topps football set had 47 waxed cards and the 82 football set had 43 waxed cards. I asked them since when is a waxwd or gummed card considered nm/mt they never responded . I left 3 negative feedbacks that were removed by ebay and i got a nasty note from ebay about feedback extortion.

Virtually everything they sell is overgraded in the title and doesn't match the description. almost any title that says mint says nm/mt in the description and so on. They are the rejects and the cards that dont pay to grade overwhelmingly.

My nm/mt set experiences with them have been at best ex/mt+, all bought before i knew better. just my own experience.

I haven't seen that on any of their cards. First I heard of it.

I have had the disspleasure of buying from them.
    PSA rejects for sure.

    Like most raw purchases beware.

If you are hoping for a psa 10 do yourself a favor and move on.
If a 8 and possible a 9 are ok then go ahead.

I am a big fan of 4SC for psa set cards and buy on ebay and thier website.

The cards they sell generally would not be of enough value that anyone would bother to do any of the things hinted at above.

I don't buy from them often, but when I have I thought their grading was more or less accurate. No service problems eiher. Note that I have never bought a set from them; only singles. They are a decent place to go if you are lookiing to fill holes in a vintage NM-NM/MT set.
You just have to know going in that you're not going to get anything that makes financial sense to grade.... or 4SC would have chosen to grade it.
