On mid 70's cello packs, is centering usually consistent with the top card? 1975 mini, how many in a

I have this 1975 Topps mini cello pack that due to the split in the cellophane, I'm thinking about opening it up just for the heck of it. Have a couple questions first though for the knowledgeable rippers. Can I expect centering throughout the pack to be consistent with the top card? In other words, am I doomed to a pack of O/C top to bottom if I open it? Also, how many cards in a 75 mini cello? Anyone know the sequence for Jim Sundberg? I want a gem mint Sunny for my collection

Thanks!

I don't know anything about sequencing, but I'm positive there's a Gem Jim Sundberg in there. Please let us know how you get that pack out safely.

18 cards, very hard to pull a 9+. Centering will vary, but the Lamont is well centered l/r, which is not a bad thing. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. Will probably sleep on whether or not to bust it open. I do realize that busting it open is probably one of the quickest ways to magically make $100 evaporate into $5, but there is always the chance for a score as well image

Centering of top card is typicaly indicative of centering to the "flip" which occurs after the gum, which is after the 7th card in a mini cello. Not sure if Lamont leads to Sundberg, but if it does it will be before the gum.

Pulling mint cards from a mini cello is tougher than pulling one from wax due to tighter cello wrap but otoh centrering is generally better and if card is towards middle of pack where corners are better protected, a 9 is certainly possible. I've pulled a few that way. The Lamont card is a tad OC T/B, but not bad at all, and cards behind it may be even better.

Edit to add: Good luck, Mike! Rip away!

Agreed. Better off leaving it sealed. You have maybe 4 chances at a mint "insert player name".
  • How did that pack get a 9? lol

Wrapper had to split like that after being graded. Is it a matter of being stored in a too dry environment??
