PCGS slab Genealogists, question?

Is anyone tracking variations caused by the shift of styles at PCGS? Between the inclusion of pronged holders, two tone and even a few non-pronged two tones all with SP mixed it. I know some combos were only made for short periods, has anybody looked at scarcity?
Also the early SP holders were very attractive and seamed to have great conservative grades and mostly high end coins in them due to the high price but the dark blue metallic inserts are some of PCGS's best IMO and I have only seen a handful personally. Any insight?

did anyone note a date when those changed to the new format?

IMO the SP coins were gone over with a fine tooth comb and it took quite a lot to elicit a early plus. It appears to me that the graders have settled in on the new grading framework

well, it's all part of the history of the holders.
and it could be important - for instance I identified an ebay auction with a coin that used the old format barcode but with the new prongs. Is that even possible? Does PCGS reholder with old labels?
plus, again, it's all part of the history.
I suppose we could say that it's all semantics but I have long thought that there are really only about five "holder" types, the rest of the encapsulation fancy is all about the insert.
