It's been awhile since I've really looked that close at a Kennedy half... but aren't the date numerals spaced wider than usual? They just don't look right to me.... but could be the effects of a long day....
Thanks for all of the input. What initially caught my eye was the color of the label. I realize that color balance varies a lot from camera to camera and setup to setup. The label has a distinctively purple cast to it that I have seen in many fakes and it caused me to look further. The pictures of the coin are obviously poor but I thought I saw several things that didn't look right, specifically the chin line on the obverse and rays on the reverse. Although I realize that the coin is not generally worth the effort to counterfeit, I have seen a few coins on the ebay fakes gallery page worth roughly the same as this Kennedy in good condition, at least I thought. Anyway, I totally detest all of the bogus coins for sale on ebay so I will continue to keep my eyes open for fakes and I appreciate all of the information I garner from this forum.
just a thought from the other side of the coin. If you were able to get a fake coin such as this on in a holder from say china and it cost you $12.00 and you sold it for 89.00, then that would be a $77.00 profit. With a lower profit people would believe coins and holders such as this would not be faked so would be less likely to bother with them. Now $77.00 profit on 10 accounts that sell 200 low dollar fake coins =$154,000.00 profit that no one is bothering with. Just playing the devils advocate. The greedy counterfeiter is the one who gets caught just as in any other scam but the one who goes slow and low then gets out early runs free. Being vigilant even on the lower price coins is a good thing, I am glad you are out there looking...

Hmmmm
What's odd here is the barcode is the old format one, but the holder uses the newer prong gasket.
Do they re-use labels on re-holders??

<< <i>I really doubt anyone would bother faking that. >>
that would be a total waste of time to fake it as well.
The slab is fine.
The cert number checks out.
The coin looks as fine as can be expected for a typical 2010 PR70DCAM Modern Proof.
The counterfeit bug bites again................
The name is LEE!
<< <i>To the best of my knowledge, counterfeiting is relegated to business strike coins and not mirrored/cameo modern proof coins >>
Not necessarily.
