Would you crack a PSA 10 with a pop of 1?

I recently picked up a Bowman Chrome Gold Refractor PSA 10 of a former minor leaguer that played for the Giants. The guy washed out of the minors 6 years ago and never made it to the majors, so his career is done. I only needed the card because it filled a spot in my Giants collection.

I just noticed that it's a "pop 1". In all reality, the market for this card was 1 person (me) and the holder and grade had no impact on the price I chose to pay to obtain the card. My question is, would you crack it and stick it in a toploader to maintain continuity with the rest of your collection?

How tough would it be to find one raw? 1 of 1's are nice items, but if it doesn't fit in your set and another is going to be really hard to find, crack it out.

PLEASE remember that there are $5.00 cards from the 60's and 70's that no one ever wanted that are now going for hundreds of dollars because of their scarcity, so you may want to look around for a second card instead.

It's #'ed to 50, and it's the only one I've found for sale in the few years I've been looking. That rarity may be more due to it's low value and low popularity than someone hoarding them.

  • POP 1 of a modern card of a meaningless player means it is worthless other than to you and the player's parents.

Unless you were going to get it autographed, leave it slabbed.
    Continuity is seriously overrated.

If it was going into my collection, I wouldn't crack it out but that's because I prefer slabbed cards at the moment.

It sounds like you want to crack it out. If that's the case, then do it and enjoy the card! image

I'm all about consistency for your collection. I do the same thing with my Cardinals collection. All of mine are in albums, so I would bust it out (especially if you never plan on selling it).

This has been proven wrong so many times it's not funny. All it takes is a couple of guys who "need" a low pop common..............and it could skyrocket.

    no no and no

If the value is kinda low then by all means go what u think is best for your collection.

People collect all kinds of stuff. Some might be very limited but don't assume you are the only collector of the things u like.
