Setting up at a show question

I'm setting up at our local show in December and have done so several times in the past. I noticed today at the show, that a lot of guys who have dime boxes or quarter boxes don't put those cards in penny sleeves. Is this common? The reason I ask is I usually have in the past, but have thought about not doing that anymore. Seems like an awful lot of work for very little return. Your thoughts as a seller or buyer?

  • The dime boxes that I have seen at shows usually do not have penny sleeves and I don't mind either nor do I expect them to. They usually seem to sell well too. Good luck at the show.
  • I've always put them in penny sleeves, but for whatever reason, it just occurred to me today that most people probably don't care. It's not like they protect the cards all that well anyway.

Sometimes perception goes a long way. Someone could think there is a hidden gem amongst the group because someone took the time to put them in penny sleeves.
Personally I'd probably do it for any better cards in the mix.

For the dime box ... NO
For the quarter box ... YES

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
