eBays Global Shipping Program Questions...

Every time I list a item with eBay, their system asks me if I want to participate. I've
done a search here and nothing comes up so I'm reaching out.

I'm going to list one coin to try it but even after having read as much as I can from
their own information about it, I still don't know how the shipping works!

I know you ship the item to a central US facility and it goes on from there. But what
do I put down for a shipping fee in the listing? Is this automatically figured out by their
system as you list it so a potential bidder/buyer knows what their fee will be to get it? Does
the seller only pay the US fee to this central facility or is it based on its final destination?

Assuming it sells to a person in a country where I can ship it to, does anyone here use
this program that could offer advice/information on my concerns?

Thank you in advance for any replys!

I could be wrong but I don't think it's used for coin sales?

This is very easy to answer. You can't use the program to ship coins. It looks interesting, but I've never looked into it because it won't help.

Yep, you're both correct! I finally found this info while continuing my hunt for
shipping fees. I knew you couldn't send coins/money overseas but I thought there were
certain countries allowed and/or exclusions to this rule...found out NOT.

Thus eliminating any further need to pursue the line of questioning for ship fees.

    Thanks Casman/Rocket Man!

That's good to hear. Otherwise this would eventually turn into another "I shipped overseas" horror story.

Yes, coins are not allowed to be shipped using the Global Shipping Program. It won't allow the item to be listed if Global Shipping is checked.

I am currently having my first experience with it. I sold a sterling silver western buckle a couple days ago. I didn't even know the buyer was foreign until I checked the shipping status a couple days later and saw two numbers - one was the number I generated with my label, the other was unfamiliar. So I poked around and found that the buyer was actually in Germany. The address I shipped to was the shipping center in Kentucky. I only paid postage to the shipping center. I am guessing that Ebay must somehow bill the buyer for the international postage portion separately - there was no mention of it in any of my PayPal details on the transaction. Does anybody know the answer?

the buyer pays the taxes and duties and shipping through ebay to his international location I am told. The seller is only responsible up to the shipping center location.
Buyer feedback reflecting slow shipping or complaints about taxes and fees are able to be removed as well. Great program I have had superb results (not for coins)
and sell more as a result.
  • I agree with the above no currency, I have used it to ship vintage horns overseas and it has worked out well and reduced alot of my shipping frustrations.

    .
that is very strange. i am under the impression it included numismatics specifically to protect them to be shipped overseas and there is a list of qualifying countries for the G.S.P. and it permits me to apply this feature to override my previous overseas selling/shipping options for qualifying countries; although it does say "for eligible items", so it seems yet again, the "small print" gets ya.

same with that shipsaver insurance. i read it and it says does not cover coins, blah, blah so i stopped reading. ><
