Don't make the same mistake...

I don't really collect modern anymore, but got talked into doing an online ebay 3 box break on some 2013 Topps Update Baseball. Talk about a colossal waste of time and money. I'm glad that I didn't pay much to be a part of it. The whole thing was just odd.

  • Well, I wasn't expecting a whole lot regarding the product since I didn't pay much. So it wasn't really the cards. He didn't respond to any communication regarding the link to the break. I actually had to wait till after it was recorded because it took me forever to find it. He never responded when I asked him for the link. Once I did find it and watched the recording, he was definitely breaking it like in his kitchen, which is not a big deal at all....except for the screaming kids in the background, which made it hard to hear. Not only that, but he went flying through the cards, missing some of them, and any card that was not turned right side up, he just left it the way it was. That made it impossible to tell what it actually was.
Like I get that everyone has an odd side, but it was just odd. He would stop about every 3 packs, type on the computer or walk away and have a conversation with people in the other room. He also would leave any "hit" cards that he found in the packs till the end. It just seemed weird to me. Maybe I'm off. Who knows.
Oh, forgot to add, he didn't apply shipping discount either saying that I won too many cards to apply the discount, despite the fact that he said there would be a discount.

I've only done two of these but it was with Dave and Adams. I did them out of curiosity. They do a good professional job with them but I quickly learned they are not for me.

Just make a note not to participate with him again.

I'm not going to make any assumptions here...but what is "Blowout"? I mean, we have our own definitions in this house with two kids, but I'm guessing you mean something completely different?

  • Guess not. ;-)

There's a poster with the username Guru on blowout.com. He breaks modern every other day.
