Another great TrueView photo (1916 Matte Proof Lincoln)

So Phil Arnold just shot this great photo for me. It's a 1916 Matte Proof Lincoln Cent (PCGS PR64RB CAC) that I picked up in last month's Goldberg Auction for a bit over 50% of guide price. Guide price is $3350 and I won this for $1850 + 15% buyers premium, which was a great price for a relatively spot-free 1916. I really liked the hammered strike with the great beard and hair detail, the lava-like red glow in the center, and the lack of spots. Of course the super-wide razor-sharp rims are really cool too.

I know it's not the most beautiful Matte Proof in the world, but it's not bad at that price point.
And it's a rarity with only 188 PCGS slabbed examples floating around out there for this date.
PCGS Slab Population (Counts):

This gave me a really low cost way to fill one of two remaining holes in my Matte Proof Lincoln Set.
All the coins shown below are PCGS graded (with the assigned grade shown below each coin); and I added my buy price for each coin under that info.
Note that all the coin images are resized TrueView photos. Phil is master at shooting Matte Proofs.

Congratulations on adding the 1916 to your MPL set. You can be very proud and happy that you now own 8 of the 9 MPL's. The "big one" is out there but it is not easy or cheap to aquire, as you know. For the first time in a long time (as far as I'm aware) the coin is currently being offered for sale by Andy. (Andy Skrabalak / Angel Dee's). It is a PCGS PR64RB being offered at $35k. You can see the listing at his web site. It is very infrequently that the 1909VDB MPL appears for sale other than at a major auction or by private treaty. My guess is that someone will grab it within a month given Andy's reputation for quality. I believe another example will be offered in January at FUN.

Maybe you can cherrypick an 09VDB....
Too many positive BST transactions with too many members to list.
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
If you had attempted to assemble a set of this quality in 2008-09 your output would have easily been double or triple.
No one has enjoyed this endeavor from your first acquired Matte to this latest example more than I.
A few hits, a few misses along the way.
In the end the result is a superb collection of some of the most eye appealing MPL's that exist in a single collection.

We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.

Hoard the keys.
Matte Lincolns are not only beautiful but they are photo friendly
with the non reflective surfaces, I never get tired of looking at your examples.
Not too shabby!
