Does Saint Louis have adequate space? We were there in 1970 and 1979 but have not been back. What about Pittsburgh? We were there in 2004. How about Dallas? Heritage could give us tours of their facility. Is there anything large enough in Houston? We were there in 1978. Anything large enough in Washington,D.C.? I have very fond memories of being there in 1971. Portland was good in 1998. Please don't take us back to Chicago ( Rosemont ) at least until the year 2525!
The 200,000 square feet is just for the bourse -- not counting other space which is needed such as that for the auction, meetings, etc.
In looking over the list you provided some of them do not appear to have a 200,000+ square foot area for the bourse.
The Atlanta Expo Center seems to have 205,000 square feet total -- so either they don't have meeting rooms or the largest open space not that large.
All three of the Gaylord properties top out at under 180,000 square feet -- 10% less than what is needed.
The 2012 Fall and 2016 National Money Show will be at the Dallas Convention Center.
I wasn't aware that FUN had decided to go to Tampa for 2016-2018. We already have 2016 planned, but that could make Orlando a spot for 2017 or 2018.

Don't forget there's already a "Summer FUN" show in July every year.
<< <i>Does Saint Louis have adequate space? We were there in 1970 and 1979 but have not been back. >>
Yes, it does. The problem that St. Louis faced is the strict union rules which would make the cost to the ANA prohibitive -- even plugging in a lamp would have to be done by a union member. It's possible they have changed, but I need to find out the current status.
<< <i>What about Pittsburgh? We were there in 2004. >>
And in the fall of 2011. It's a city that does get looked into.
<< <i>How about Dallas? Heritage could give us tours of their facility. >>
We were there in Fall 2012 and will be there in Spring 2016.
<< <i> Is there anything large enough in Houston? We were there in 1978. >>
There is a new convention center there, but virtually nothing nearby. It's something that may be possible once there is further development in the area.
<< <i>Anything large enough in Washington,D.C.? I have very fond memories of being there in 1971. >>
Washington DC has sales tax on numismatic items. We are trying to get an exemption, but have so far been unable.
<< <i>Portland was good in 1998. >>
We will be there in Spring 2015.
<< <i>Please don't take us back to Chicago ( Rosemont ) at least until the year 2525! >>
I hate to break it to you, but Chicago / Rosemont is a good venue for the ANA. But, do realize there are a number of members of the Board (including myself) who are aware of the weariness to go back soon / often.

FUN has made a decision ( a bad choice in my opinion ) to go to Tampa in 2016-2018. They may not have been able to get Orlando in those years. I would like to have an answer from the FUN board on that one. Although Orlando would be uncomfortable in July or August it would be better than Chicago.
<< <i>[Based on input from dealers and auction houses, just about any state with taxes on numismatic purchases is a non-starter. This eliminates 21 states right off the bat. Shows in California are difficult due to Nexus rules -- we had a lot of conversations before choosing Anaheim in 2017. Looking at locations which are out of the way (Alaska) or too small to hold a WFoM (New Hampshire), that leaves the following states as options:
Arizona Colorado Florida Georgia Illinois Louisiana Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Missouri New York Pennsylvania Texas Utah Washington
The next problem is that we are too small for many convention centers to be interested. On the West Coast alone, that eliminates San Francisco and Seattle. The 2015 National Money Show will be in Portland. Where else is there to even consider on the West Coast?

The Long Beach show doesn't seem to have a problem attracting dealers and auction houses. I think a San Diego show would be wonderful!
the San Diego Convention Center is very close to the airport and adjacent to the Gaslamp Quarter, which is the home for many great dining establishments and exciting nightlife. It sits right on the San Diego Bay and is walking distance to fantastic shopping and tourist attactions.
Greg, Thanks for providing the pros and cons of the various cities and venues that several posters have suggested.
It gets rather aggravating when someone jumps all over the ANA for not going to a particular location (like NYC) but then offers nothing in the way of an appropriate venue.
Also, I'm rather amused by the posters who suggest places like Boise, ID and Poughkeepsie, NY - basically, they're saying "I'm a tire kicker who wants dealers to spend thousands to come to my back yard so I can look at cool stuff without spending any money!"
<< <i>Just wondering why; as it is on your list; not AZ/Phx? Issues with the Convention Center or other considerations like attendance concerns? >>
The two main concerns are: 1) The WFoM is in August... do you want to be in Phoenix in August? 2) Past conventions in Arizona have drawn VERY poor attendance.
Greg >>
That's why most conventions are held in air-conditioned halls.
<< <i>The Long Beach show doesn't seem to have a problem attracting dealers and auction houses. I think a San Diego show would be wonderful! >>
Long Beach has set up their schedule so that dealers attending their show alone will not encounter Nexus taxation issues. Add an ANA show and then nexus issues occur.
<< <i>That's why most conventions are held in air-conditioned halls. >>
Yes, but you usually have to go outside to get to your hotel, eat, etc.

Thanks for all of the input Greg. Keep looking for new venues for the ANA. Remember that it is the American Numismatic Association and not the Chicago Coin Club.

Atlanta Expo Center - 3 miles from the airport. The south hall has 200k+ sq ft.
Orlando Orange County Convention Center - the winter FUN show is foolishly vacating it for a couple of years. Not jumping on this site for at least the spring show is an oversight.
Gaylord Palms in Kissimee - the Gaylord Hotels all have main rooms in the 175k+ sq ft range
Gaylord National CC - just outside of Washninton DC
Another Gaylord less than 3 miles from DFW
Dallas Convention Center
<< <i>A very partial list of potential centers w/200k+ Sq ft available and in tax friendly states to consider:
