Another reason BBCE has a store front

So I'm deep into the Group Rip phenomenon on the Blowout Cards forum and absolutely amazed at the action on brand new modern card sets. With the soon to be released Bowman Draft, there are over 80 cases anticipated to be broken! People talk about the cost associated with new releases and the risk of taking massive losses with this stuff. Well, if the cases are $720+ each pre-sell.....knowing you're selling 100 plus cases of a product before it releases couldn't be anything but profit. I don't see BBCE getting to those numbers in the near future but to ignore that it's profitable is foolish. I can't wait to see what they have in store. What are your thoughts on modern group rips and would you pay for one on the PSA forums if offered by BBCE?

Im going to be in 70 of those draft cases, just a few spots in each but still... I don't modern group rips happening here like on blowout. Id be in if that happens though.
  • I'm involved with all the big ones right now. Crappy randoms on some but it would be awesome to get a Top 3 spot in the 50 case break. As for BBCE, I'm sure it would be a huge success with modern but why not with 80's and 90's stuff? What about a 1985 Topps Wax case? How about a baseball or football mix? I think if the right product was chosen, people would buy-in.

When you're buying directly from the manufactures you're pretty much forced to buy every POS product they dump on you and can't pick and choose how much and what to buy. Any profit made on something good like Bowman Draft will be quickly lost on next 10 crap products nobody wants. A great way to dump it is to gather a bunch of lemmings and have a circle group rip.
  • ROFL, the business model seems to work though. I'm not saying that BBCE will ever go that big in modern but to avoid it, especially with a retail store front is bad business.
  • I have a sealed case of 12 bowman draft jumbo - I'd love to do a break on the boards.
  • Case of 2012 bowman platinum too
  • I like this promo, spend $200 on your choice of 3 modern junk wax Basketball boxes for a less than 50% CHANCE (46 cards, 100 spots) to get a spot(ONE card) in a group break of the hot new Basketball product. 100 spots and they sold out in a couple hours, $200 x 100 BRILLIANT! now that is how you unload junk wax

  • Obviously they are profitting from the sale but with the value of those cases, I dont see them making that much money. It's still crazy though, buying a QTY of low end boxes(Panini Threads,Presitige,Contenders) for a chance at 1 card per.

Not really. I ran a couple of small GB's with the Contenders lots.
Each person got 3 teams. And if the slot wins one of the cards it will go to the slot holder if valued at $200 or less. More than $200 it will be sold and another break done.

I also, until recenlty, ran a Perconal Collection GB club. We had 16 people and we each got our team and a random team. We were breaking $1000 worth of product every 2 months.

The huge 25 and 50 case GB's are nothing more than gambling. Plunk your $50 down. Get a top 10 pick and sell your slot for $300+

The sellers make pretty good $$ as well. Say shipping is $6 for 1 slot and additional slots are $4. Someone buys 6 slots is paying $26 for shipping and the cost to ship is about $11. Nice profit there.

Of course I would rather crush a testicle than break 25 cases of a product so it they can make some money good for them.
