Grades popped...Warning - I opened lots of junk wax!!

My grades finally popped...received on 8/5. I opened a bunch of junk wax over the summer and pulled a bunch of cards as potential gradable just in case I needed to round out submissions. Well the cards piled up so I sent a bunch in and actually have a couple similar lots at PSA. Not sure why I sent some in as the value was minimal even in 10 but these are a lot of the players I liked growing up. Plus its just fun submitting cards!

One note on the submittion, the Desert Shield cards were the ones that came out of the pack I pulled the PSA 9 Chipper Jones rookie. Too bad BBCE doesnt have anymore packs as there were five 10's in the single pack!!

I actually opened a box of the 1987 fleer star stickers and they were pretty brutal...only three gradeable in the entire box. Luckily one was the Schmidt. I thought the Ryno had a chance also, but I'm very happy about the Schmidt

The Carpenter was a pre pre rookie card lol,...actually I didnt even think about the fact that he wasn't even in the majors for about seven years after that card was issued...oops!! I just saw the name and the Cardinals and put it in the stack! I guess that makes it a rare 1/1, well I'm assuing no one else sent one in prior to me..haha

Not sure if I'm missing the sarcasm, or if you and PSA both though it was "Chris" Carpenter on that card. The player in 1990 was "Cris" Carpenter, who is a completely different person with a very mediocre career. If they actually printed "Chris Carpenter" on a label for a card that says "Cris Carpenter", then those guys maybe need to mix in a nap between batches.

Glad you got a 10, and I wish it was the better player!!

The card is misspelled on the PSA pop report too. Kinda funny, and there had been one other subbed and it was only an 8. It is interesting to know that someone else subbed that card and would be more funny if there were a bunch of them, ha ha. Now to just find the person putting together the 1990 Fleer set on the registry or to find Cris Carpenter's family member who collect his cards. I do think it is cool that you subbed a lot of cards that had personal meaning to you, that is what collecting is all about and you got some nice grades.

It was lot of fun busting old packs from when I was a kid! The next lot has a bunch of basketball in it I think...Its been at PSA so long I don't remember!

I think I almost have to keep the Carpenter card now just because it is kind of funny!! Well that and there's not really a market for it

I can't find the video, but Bob Costas was on Jimmy Fallon's show a couple of years ago, and they opened up some 1989 Topps packs. Costas was puzzled when he pulled a CRIS Carpenter card because he thought it was a card of the active pitcher CHRIS Carpenter.
