Great site. I have bought a lot of stuff from COMC. Never sold anything but have heard from people that have that they are happy with the results. I use them for about 1/2 the purchases that used to go to ebay
Just made my first purchases - 5 or 6 modern cards. I will have to pay $.30 each card for a top loader when delivered. Not too fond of that, but look forward to seeing the quality of the cards. Will consider selling. Seems their model is, sell your cards and use the proceeds to buy more cards. Otherwise it's 20% to cash out. This might be a really good thing.
I was very happy with my COMC purchases. I try to buy several cards at a time whenever I do buy from them. The cards protect themselves enough to not have to purchase top loaders.
Their fee's are worse than ebay's. If you decide to "cash out" they take a big chunk(20%) on top of the listing/sorting fees. I believe this is why lot's of sellers drastically overprice some cards on the site.
I just sent in about 20 redemptions from 2012 and 2013. The turnaround to get the cards up on the site was quite good. I got emails along the way with updates. Plus I really like that they manage the redemptions. No scanning. I set the price. Already sold a few. All in all I like them. The cash out fee hurts but I can rationalize it with quickly getting a lot of product listed instead of chipping away at them a few a night.
I'll be sending in more of my prospecting lot just to avoid the legwork I would have to do to get on eBay.
My two cents, sent in 402 cards on their recent 45-day special (mix of old/new baseball/basketball/football).
Pros: Met deadline for getting them all scanned (front & back) and available for me to price Easy to check what same items are listed for & quickly price all your items (priced 400 items in ~30 min) Quick to fix any listing errors (had a couple 75 Twinkies come up as regular Hostess, recategorized within a few hours when I checked again) Easy to accept offers or counter buyers offer
Cons: Not getting much traction with any vintage Had 2 cards rejected, without an inventory of what I'd sent them I would have no idea which ones they were (no reason given for not listing a couple 65 Embossed inserts) I don't plan on cashing out, but as others have stated if you don't plan to purchase other cards with the proceeds it's a pretty big hit
Misc: Sold about 5% of the cards within two days of pricing, has slowed down quite a bit since Most everything sold has been baseball
