'75 minis from the pack - PSA says its trimmed

A few months ago I opened a couple of '75 Topps mini packs. These packs came from BBCE. I got a real nice looking Carter rookie and sent it to PSA. My grades popped today and they say evidence of trimming.
I remember reading in the past, that some minis are always cut short. Is this one of those cards?
Thanks for reading.

i admit it. i was desperate and needed to alter an over-populated mega-semistar. but at least all my Mantles got graded. who needs the guy who never was Mantle, anyways?

Wow. Did PSA give your money back?
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's
No, on the contrary the Carter RC (as with other cards with pink top and yellow bottom) will sometimes be taller than the typical mini cards out of the pack (minis with tan top and blue bottom are also in this category).
The only mini cards that should come "short" out of the pack are those with red top and yellow bottom or those with green top and yellow bottom. This is due primarily to their placement on the sheet.
I would definitely submit again
Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
that happened to me a while back! and also with 1975 topps but not minis
i did resub some of the better ones and they did grade the 2nd time but
it did cost me double.

I got EOT on a Rice RC I pulled straight from a '75 rack. Resubbed it and got EOT again. Luckily, I got a 9 on the Yount RC I pulled from the same rack.

Not really. PSA has a long and dark history with trimmed Minis, it's good to see they are taking a "better safe then sorry" approach for once. It would be nice if they got it right the first time, but the quantity of fraud and bad Minis out there raises the level of skepticism they are opporating on. It's a good sign for the hobby (maybe not for the OP) that they are over-analizing edges to determin whether or not a card is trimmed.

this has been my frustration for years with the '71 Topps Baseball as well. i truly wish they would put more effort into examining the card better and getting it right the first time.
but, darn near every one i sent back was graded & slabbed the 2nd time around. pfffft.
you're up, Daniel.
Carter is actually a very, very common trim, in more than one flavor. Any Carter that is short is trimmed. Quite a few that are not short are also trimmed as the card commonly came oversized and was later trimmed down to size. I am also glad to see them looking extra close at all Carters. If you ever saw the Dmitri 10, you would really know what I mean.

Just like every single other grading 'discussion' here; it all comes down to the grader's opinion.
re-sub--pay more $$--OK, it's a PSA-8 or 9 after all.
I mean doesn't PSA check the person's orders that are submitted previously--I assume so
So if I send in 5 cards that come back EOT--and then re-sub them 2 months later--isn't the 1st thing they do is see if I have sub'd those cards before???
And then they grade them?
hmmmmmmmmm
It happens to us all at some point. For me it always seems to be low value commons from the '80s.

And the reason I like to send my resubs on someone else's order.
For one thing, it could bias the grading. I know that I submit multiple, distinct copies of the same card all the time and a whole lot of other people do as well. For another thing, why would they even bother?
<< <i>seems to be quite the profit maker for PSA--1st time around EOT

I can't imagine that they would cross reference previous subs. It seems like this would lead to problems... Shouldn't the card in hand (ideally) be graded on its own merits at that exact moment? Even if a grader has in hand a one card sub of a 1985 Topps Dan Marino, and the history of the same account shows the previous 100 subs ALL being one card subs consisting of an EOT 1985 Topps Dan Marino.... Could't this very easily (however unlikely) be a different card?
