Is David Ortiz the greatest (RBI) clutch hitter of all time ?

Have you ever seen any other player come through time and time again for his team, driving in the big run in big games ?

He is without question the best in the Boston Red Sox history, Im not sure about other all time greats with other teams but regardless his name should be in the discussion.

You will one day see # 34 on the upper right field facade joining the other Red Sox player's #s whose baseball performance is forever highlighed in the highest honor bestowed upon them with their uniform #s displayed.

I am beyond embarrassed to say that I crashed at the end of the 7th inning Sunday night, with the score 5-1 Tigers. You should have seen the look on my face when I heard and watched what I missed by mere minutes the next morning!! WOW, right up there with the game 4 comeback against the Yankees in the '04 series...if not more so!!! Papi is worth every dime and more that he earns.

    GO RED SOX !!!!

Be careful in Detroit. The grounds keeper may come out and put sand in the batters box when it's his turn to bat. Just like they did at first base when the Royals were playing them. Without the sand at first base maybe Fielder would not have been thrown out at the plate. One slipped step on his take off is all it took.

It depends. If all playoff games are "big games", then he's not clutch AT ALL. His regular season stats are nearly identical to his playoff stats. He was in a big playoff slump until that grand slam (under .200 over 19 games from 2008-2013).

Carlos Beltran has hit MUCH better in the playoffs than in the regular season.

So because he did well from April through September, somehow his hits in October weren't as important?

Ortiz is fifth in postseason RBI with fewer at bats than any of the four ahead of him

Beltran is one of the few who could be considered ahead of Ortiz, but the original question was asking only about what I've seen, and I haven't seen him as much

I vividly remember him from when he played for my Minnesota Twins. He had tremendous power, but was hurt a lot. Still don't know why we gave up on him and why NO OTHER TEAM was willing to give up anything for him.

I have kept an eye on him ever since, and while I don't know his percentages, he sure has come through in quite a few big games.

    We didn't need him.................yeah right.

Well I believe he started juicing once he arrived in Boston, totally fine with me as his juiced up bat helped us win some World Series!

I like Ortiz; but let's not get too crazy for the simple fact that most of his #'s are obviously inflated due to "You Know What". His bat episode in the dugout this year was a man out of control.

Honestly there is nothing crazy about it when talking about how clutch he has been in Boston steroids or not.
