1988 Kenner SLU Baseball

Anyone collect the single cards? I am putting a set together and need about thirty to complete, including Ryan and Ripken Jr.

Thanks

Wow, never knew those went for that much. There's a Ripken ending on eBay in 30 minutes and a Ryan in 45 minutes.

Of course I bought the New York players ... they are worth sh!t. LOL

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

There is a dealer on ebay that has all the cards. I bought some SLU baseball cards from him that were never released.
    His handle is thatcincinnatiguy.

The Kenner SLU cards are quite desirable and very condition sensitive, especially 1988-1990. As far as price, a lot of it is based upon the price of the sealed SLU in the blister.

That being said, I do have a 1988 Kenner Ripken PSA 9.

Great!!! Would you mind posting a pic of this? Is there an official checklist of all cards in this set? looking for the 88 set only at this time.

    Thanks,

So a complete set of figures on card sold for $450 on ebay a few months back.

But the complete set of cards, with 15 PSA graded sold for twice that on Huggins and Scott in 2008.

    Huggins Auction

Not sure which is representative of actual FMV at this point.

Best place for the cards you need is SLU.net. Post on the boards what you need, several of the guys will have what you need. Depending on who you need, most cards sell for 50 cents to a buck, Ryan and Ripken at most $10, some guys will pounce on the uninformed and want more than what they are worth. 1988 baseball is considered common SLU junk, and people will be happy to move it when someone asks. You may be able to find beat in package "openers" cheaper than the loose cards.

I own the complete set of 1988 baseball SLU both in package, and loose. Have them proudly displayed in my sports room. A complete set in really nice shape will cost you $450-$500 in package, and $125 loose with all the cards. The Huggins auction link you provided is incredibly high priced, no way that lot should have sold for that. Toss that out for pricing.

PSA examples are all over the board in pricing. Never got into that, so I can't give you values.

There are 124 or 125 guys in the set right? Putting that together loose with cards for $125 is a decent deal I think.

The figures probably look pretty cool all together with the different unis. Would love to see a pic of that sometime if you get a chance.
