The 1926-S is widely considered the key date for the series; especially in mint state. I'd grade your example VG8 at best. The reverse looks nice, but the worn date and LIBERTY blending into the rim hurt it.

  • Looks like a nice, original coin. I agree it's VG 8 or 10 at best because of the weakly struck detail, although technically it might be Fine based on wear.

Obverse looks to be about a G-6 and the reverse better. I'g agree with the net combination of VG-8.
Congratulations on the new addition to the coin family.

I would look at previous eBay or Heritage auction sales. It only takes a few minutes, and you would get a more streamlined answer there. Additionally, you have access to the PCGS price guide. You can also take a look at Redbook or some other numismatic price guide. But, the auction sites will give you the better indication of value.

I would grade yours as a VG10, but I am not a Buffalo specialist.

My thought is you have a $100 horn on a $20 coin so $50 sounds about right. image

I'll go F-15. A fair amount of horn there. The grading standard on this issue is looser than with most in the series--there are many holdered XFs with no tip on the horn.

I like this example. It's in great shape for having that much wear.

I like the reverse. But I think the obverse holds it back. I would say VG-10.

IMHO, not enough date for our host to give it a Fine.

Yeah, a shame. I'm old-school, I guess. I could never consider a Buff XF without a full horn.
