Is he still losing his shirt? Poor guy. Unfortunately he can't even get a sponsor to sign him up and do a commercial? I mean, he is a 6 time All-Star and 3 time World Series Champ and a World Series MVP among other awards. No one wants to throw this guy a bone. lol Just sad.
Hes not making any money working for espn? I see him on baseball tonight quite a bit and he does a pretty good job. Seems like a natural fit doing broadcasting. Maybe actual play by play during games pays more? At least he has a job it's a shame he can't seem to get out of this funk lol.

The gig he's got with ESPN isn't going to get him out of a $50m hole.
If you make this kind of cash at your job maybe you should keep your "hobby" just that.

The loan he defaulted on was for $75 million. I doubt he even cleared that much after taxes his entire career.

He thought he could get over on the state of Rhode Island, and he thought because he was famous he wouldn't have to pay his bills. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for this clown. Throw in his unrelenting condescension towards just about anyone, and this estate sale couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy.

Hypothetically, if that clowns "bloody" sock was for sale, would it be possible to find out the brand of ketchup he used? Hunts, Heinz, other? Just in case it accidentally found itself in a washer you'd want the original brand back on there....
The sad thing about all of this is that many, many people saw how this was going to end and tried to warn him. He fooled himself into thinking he knew more than he did and just had too big of an ego to listen. Curt has been a huge MMO fan and hardcore player for probably 10+ years. In fact, he was a insanely dedicated player of a game called Dark Age of Camelot that my last game studio created. The customer service representatives said that he would call in at all hours of the night (even after baseball games) and just talk to them for hours about strategy, classes, give feedback, etc. It was a big thrill for them so no rush to get him off the phone.
Jump again many years later and we hear that he has decided that playing MMOs for all of those years makes him qualified to start a game studio and create his own game. Most people in the industry scoff. He goes out and hires Todd McFarlane and R.A. Salvatore, both accomplished guys in their fields....but again no real experience making video games that I know of. He gives us a call and say's that he would like to bring his management team into our studio just to "pay a visit". Curt and the team spend the whole day loosely describing their plan and acting super confident while essentially working our experienced team for as much advice/guidance as they can get. At least a few people that day tried to convey to Curt the magnitude and complexity of what he was about to undertake, how risky it all was, and how he needed a more experienced senior management team to run the day-to-day. It was all to no avail.
Anyway, it was a not a bright moment for the industry....but I have a signed 2004 World Series ball as a memento.
KLS nailed it. To his credit, Curt believed in the product and put his money where his mouth was. Unfortunately for the RI tax payers, their officials ignored glaring red flags and invested in a celebrity rather than a wise business decision.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
