Refund on ebay!

Need a bit of help here:

I bought a coin from a seller described "flawless, great eye appeal, etc." and then "full refund minus shipping NO QUESTIONS ASKED!." His return policy was within 14 days.

When I received this coin, I didnt like the look at all, so I got it checked out by a dealer, he didnt either. I wanted a return, so I clicked return this item, and ebay said contact the seller, so I sent a message, and STILL no reply after 2 days.

What do I do?

If he eventually does reply, do I just send it to him? Or is there some other work that needs to be done.

Will I 100% win this case? I'd hate to lose my $$$$ for this.

Thanks.

Had the same situation two weeks ago. Never had that "contact the seller" before. But, I did and got no
response so just shipped back with delivery confirmation (under $250). Then the seller responded with
a full refund and a question as to why I returned. Had no problem. You are covered as well by Ebay/Paypal.

How are you protected that way if you just ship back? Don't they need to confirm with you?

You just shipped it back to the return label? Wasn't that dangerous?

What if he never refunded you? He could easily prove your item was received.

I'd give him till Monday. If you still haven't heard from the seller, I suggest the above. And make sure you get the delivery confirmation to remove all question.

I have had rhis happen before just open a case thru Ebay Dispute Center then send it back with a return label ans tracking number. either way u will gey ur money back within a few days of delivery confirmation. Ebay will deduct from the sellers account or bill them for it. Good Luck ans hope everything works out for you

Ebay has been promoting buyers and sellers to resolve problems between each other. I would continue trying to contact seller before launching a snad. Don't send your purchase back until the issue IS resolved. You are covered by ebay, don't sweat it.

Bingo. Simply stating you want to return the coin does not get the alarm bells going in your favor with eBay like a SNAD (Significantly Not as Described) case does. Open up one of those and you'll be good as gold.

  • He replied and said return it. So, does that mean I should just return it w/o a SNAD?

Will I be safe doing so?

ps; what is the highest cost would you wouldn't insure?

Should I insure a $1700 coin? Or not? I'm afraid if I do, he'll avoid signing for it, and just make it more of a hassle. Is tracking alone good enough?

Tracking Signature Confirmation Fully Insured SNAD. Simple. Don't risk anything while trying to save a couple bucks on shipping. Just eat it, that's my advice. I like to sleep at night.

Use signature confirmation, and I would go ahead and snad him anyway, Puts ebay on your side. As a seller, I had when people just snad, cause all they would have to do is ask about returning, and I would accept that's part of doing biz.
But if you have any reservations about the guy, just do it, ebay cant do anything to you if you follow the rules, buyers are protected. do make sure you insure the package however. If he simply refuses to pick it up, ebay will award you the return money after certain number of days even if he refused to pick it up, if not atleast you can present this as the case to them and pp.
  • according to what I read on the ebay site you would need to send it signature confirmation and have the tracking number. If you insure or send registered or any other add on that would be completely your call. For ebay and paypal its signature confirmation only, as far as I know.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it looks like he agreed to take the coin back under his return policy. If you didn't believe he would honor that policy, why did you bid in the first place?
  • Are you sure I should SNAD? Should I message and tell him? Because we already agreed I will return it. And now I should SNAD too?

if he said he would take the return , then I would say don't snad, as a seller, I can tell you its annoying. Your the one that mentioned it might be a problem based on a feeling you got. Just make sure you send it signature confirmation insured if a problem arises.

I'm fine with not SNAD as long as I am 100% secure. I dont see the reason to if he said he will take it. So, I shouldn't?

You are 100% covered through ebay if you get a signature upon return. If you under insure and the seller doesn't receive the return then it is between you and the USPS or who ever you ship through.

Very surprised at how many jump on the SNAD right off the bat!
