Quick question about Epson V300 scanner

Can anyone tell me why when scanning the same item using the Epson V300, sometimes the image produced is actual size where the card is a small portion of the entire scanner bed, and sometimes the image automatically zooms in so that the card takes up the entirety of the electronic file rather than including all the empty space around it? Same card, and no settings changed on the scanner.
Thank you.

Still confused on this one after trying different things with the scanner. I can't get it to give the enlarged version anymore though it didn't use to be a problem, only getting the small/actual size scan, which certainly doesn't look as good on an auction listing when there's a bunch of negative space in the photo area even if you can still use the zoom/magnifier viewer. Thanks for any advice on this.
  • I have this scanner. Go download vuescan software (i think $40) and it works great with this scanner.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. I'll look into that, but first I was hoping it was just some setting that got accidentally changed, or maybe something wrong with the top lid closing? I've had the scanner for a relatively long time, and all my scans used to come out sized like this example (a few thousand scans with no problems):

when now all I can get is this reduced size:

I have had this happen --- I am at work now and can't confirm how to undo it --- but I think you have the setting on full page (8.5x11ish) instead of having the scanner zoom it to what is on the bed --- will look when i get home later tonight

Ok, I may be way off here, but I put my card on the scanner bed and choose "Preview". Once the preview is done, I pull the little crop button and only highlight the area around my card. The only thing that scans is the card and not the whole scanner bed.

Not sure if that's related to what you're doing or not, but I'm using that same scanner and haven't had the problem you describe.
