Newbie Poppage Parts 1 and 2

Howdy all,

I'm brand new to the message boards, but have been a card collector for roughly a billion years. I've been trolling the boards for the last couple of days and love that everyone shares their PSA graded lots - it's kind of awesome to see the wide variety of cards getting slabbed and collected. Not long ago, I joined PSA for the first time and thought I'd join the fray with both my initial submission and the small one I got in today's mail.

    Thanks a lot! Yeah, I made a bit of a tactical error and sold both PSA 10 Tysons to a guy before there was much viewable history on eBay. I saw one sell later for $1200 but I suspected some shilling on that auction. The crap thing is that I'm all out of Tyson cards to send in unless I uncover more Question of Sport cards as I'm digging through my backstock looking for more stuff to grade.

    Those were both mine, but another one sold on August 4th for $1225 with 7 bids. If that sale was legit, I may have screwed myself out of some decent cash. But $140 each was still a whole lot more than I'd had invested in them.

    And thanks Mike and Doug for the welcome. I'm looking forward to hanging out on the boards. I'm waiting for a 45-day sub of 149 cards to pop (maybe by Thanksgiving) to help fund my grading addiction.

    That's kind of how I felt about it. I had listed those cards at $199 with best offer and felt pretty good about the $140 sales price for each.

    I got pretty lucky, but I did spend about three days whittling down my choices with the help of a ten-power loupe. Heh.

    What am I missing? Why is this just authentic and no number grade?

    Someone correct me if I'm mistaken, but it's my understanding that PSA will not grade print plate cards. I'm not sure why not, but there it is.

    I obviously understand why they wouldn't allow them to be added to registry sets but no clue why they wouldn't give it a number grade.

    Considering that the print plate itself is fixed on/in a card, I'm not sure why the usual grading criteria wouldn't apply.
