They like the Red Sox came a long way this year but ran into a good pitcher in a one game playoff which is not a fair way of doing things after a long 162 games of having a better record.

To be honest, the Tribe had the easiest September schedule, so I wasn't surprised at their September record. It gave this area the slightest glimmer of hope though, and we'll take what we can get.

Why on earth would Franconca start a rookie with an ERA of 6.75 in a one game playoff ???????? And, worse yet, leave him in there for 4 innings ????? The Indians had 9 LOBs, that will ALWAYS kill you. I wish the Indians had pulled it off. Seeing Francona in Fenway again would have made for some exciting baseball.

Hopefully the Red Sox take care of the Rays...we'll see.

Umm, Salazar had a 3.12 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 11.3 K/9 this season. He's easily their most talented pitcher. Jimenez was unavailable, and Kazmir would have been pitching on short rest. Who would you have rather sent out there?

Salazar is a beast, and most likely a future "Cy Young Award Winner only to be traded the next year" pitcher for the Tribe.

Nine LOBs have nothing to do with him anyway... that's just a hot team having two days off in a row.

According to ESPN MLB, his ERA is indeed 6.75. No big deal, they're done now.

That was just for that Wild Card game... he had a 3.12 ERA going into that game.

I've been a Red Sox fan long enough to have watched Ted Williams and Mickey Mantle play in Fenway. Losing is no big deal to me, but I do support the Red Sox team, especially this year. I wouldn't be so sure that the Rays will win...but, we'll see. I'll look forward to your congratulatory post to the team should they be fortunate enough to move on.

I saw this, and it took all of 2 seconds to figure out his ERA for the GAME was 6.75, but his regular season ERA was indeed 3.12. Just admit you made a mistake and move on.
