Nice Quick eBay deal, PayPal, express mail... There ya go. He has Arrived! I'm Very Very Happy especially with the non porous non dug nature of the surfaces. This, this makes up for the long ago punch marks on the reverse. I'm disregarding that punch mark based on one simple thing. ..I own Ted Craiges Baby Head, and that had great surfaces but alas too, a punchmark. If a Collector of that caliber can accept a punchmark so can I. Anyway, the weight of 107.1 grains and diameter of 26.1 mm put it midpoint on Carlottos metrology for this variety, based on the six examples he either saw, or found auction records of. The coin is very well centered and with all on small planchets no evidence of dentils is seen. It would strongly appear that this specimen has an incomplete planchet cutter mark on the lower left quadrant. The punchmark has slightly cupped the reverse, in turn actually preserving a great deal of detail, easier seen by photo comparison with a higher grade coin. The colors are really delightful, the reverse having that circ-cam look. Usually the reverse grades lower than the obverse with this variety due to shallowly engraved dies and probably less oomph on the big press since the coiners knew the die was already broken. Steve felt this graded VG and perhaps a bit higher and I have to agree. The Major thing is the Non Dug factor here. Frankly I'd add 50% more value over a corroded granular piece. It is a Sweet Coin. Tony Carlotto said they were undervalued and he was right. The edges, the edges are soooo sweet. Nicely rounded and smooth. Free from that nasty granulation colonials can get. ~~~~Now, Steve Hayden, there's a first rate seller and gentleman overall. It was a fully Two Thumbs Up Deal.
