SS Gairsoppa 1/4 Brittanias.

I couldn't help it. The lure of silver sitting 3 miles down at the bottom of the North Atlantic for 70+ years, due to a Nazi U-boat was too great for me. I bought a roll today. The coins have the side lettering "SS GAIRSOPPA" to denote their significance...neat stuff.

The silver on the Gairsoppa was from the Bombay branch of the Royal Mint, shipped in December 1940 to Britain. I'd bet dollars to donuts it was Pittman Act silver sent to the British during WW1.

Trying to remember, didn't they charge like 59 pounds or some such for it?
