Jay Publishing Reproductions? Fakes?

So, I just got some Jay Publishing photos from an auction that were not on the slick photo paper I am used to seeing. These photos were on paper stock. They were Type 1 photos, the detail on the prints looked good, but the paper makes me suspicious that these are reproductions.

It was only on San Fransisco Giants photo packs. They came in the brown kraft envelope, but the font on the cover and the line spacing were different from an authentic exemplar I have, filled with slick paper photos. Also, these photo packs did not come with an order form; all the other complete sets I have came with an order form.

Has anyone seen these before? Does anyone think they are real? Jay Publishing bought photos from the major photographers of the day; so, someone else could have bought the rights and just reprinted them on paper stock...

Should I blacklight them? It seems that optical brighteners may have been used in the originals anyway - in the late 1950s....

Thoughts?
