How would this work with Ebay bucks?

I wonder if anyone has encountered this situation: I bought an item today and earned about $8 in Ebay bucks for it. I should receive the item within about 3 - 4 business days. I have up to 14 days to return the item if I am not satisfied. Just for the record, i am really hoping the cards are nice because I got a nice deal. However, if I do return them for a refund and I have already received and spent my Ebay bucks by then, is there any recourse for Ebay. Obviously my $8 isn't going to bankrupt them, I was just curious if anyone ran into this unique timing. Thanks, Tom

"For returned or otherwise refunded items, eBay will reduce an Eligible Participant's Rewards balance in any Earn Period (even if the item was returned or refunded after the Eligible Participant already redeemed Rewards for such item) and this may result in a negative Rewards balance. eBay reserves the right to place a hold or suspend an Eligible Participant's eBay Bucks membership account in the Program if a negative Rewards balance is not reversed within 3 months."
