When is it a good time to consign?

Does the holiday shopping frenzy apply to sportscards? Are auctions in October and November good times to unload higher value items?
Or is it best to wait until March when baseball is on the collective mind again.
I imagine people who consign are looking to raise cash - economic question is if buyer activity increases and enough to exceed supply?
How many wives are hunting out high grade vintage slabs for Christmas?
Thoughts and experience appreciated.

In all seriousness, I believe Spring is the hot time to sell baseball cards (especially modern shiny stuff). If you look on Google Trends, the term "Baseball" is searched twice as much in the Spring over the Fall and three times more in the Spring over the winter. So, unless you want to wait until March to sell your items, now is as good a time as any. I think there are only a select few niche markets that can attract Christmas shoppers; secifically, framed memorabilia and modern unopened products. In my experience, there is a very small Christmas pickup (if any) in card sales.
